Fun-filled Friday

I'll let you be the judge of this one. Somebody I know doesn't think this picture is very good. I had to crop out some old cars in the background. Is it really that bad? Anyway, the boys had a blast borrowing a neighbor's skateboard. They will NOT be owning their own anytime soon. I think they both fell five or six times. I don't think either one skated more than 3 feet either. Too funny. I will let them break their bones doing something else. And, yes, Caleb was allowed to ride on his tummy without his helmet...for the first few seconds, until I realized how dangerous just laying on a skateboard is. Poor guys. They won't get to do anything fun...

Brothers and Sisters

I LOVE these pictures of the kids. They were having such a good time imitating one another. McKenna cracks me up. You can just see her wheels turning, trying to figure out how to make the silly faces. She was intently watching the boys. Too cute. And the pictures of Trevor...Love, Love, Love them. Shows him in a not-so-normal state of being...calm and collective. Although, I am quite enjoying the "calm before the storm". He usually has a few pretty good days before a few really, really bad days. We shall see. Whatever, I will take the good ones as long as they keep rolling. I just love my kids so much. No matter how angry and stressed they make me at times. They are so adorable in their own individual ways. And collectively, not so much...haha. Kidding. I am still in awe at how much you can love another human being. I am so blessed I get to experience it three times over. Well, four if you count Aaron...lol

Miss McKenna

Ok...not a lot of time to write. Been extremely busy lately, but thought I would share some of my favorite pictures of the kids recently. McKenna thinks she can read. She also thinks she is the teacher during our designated school/reading time. I went up to switch a load of laundry in between books and came down to find this. Sorry for the lack of lightening or editing, but I simply don't feel like doing it tonight. Kids have been keeping me extremely busy these days. Loving most every second of it. I am trying to soak it all in, because I know how quickly they grow up.

McFarley

Is it me, or is McKenna looking a lot like Chris Farley? Scary...

No words

I have nothing to write, except I would have taken pictures of Trevor and Caleb that were similar to McKenna's, but I ran out of energy after the first five hours of screaming. Bedtime, here I come.

Wiggle the Worm

I got such a kick out of McKenna and this outfit today. She picked it out herself. As I would say, "she is a hot mess". Seriously. And the hair...I am guessing she got the lovely Detwiler hair. Lucky girl. Looks so pretty. NOT. The boys helped Aaron dig up some trees that were rotting and loved digging through worms as well. Great day was had by all.

Strike Out???

Well, we took the kids bowling for the first time ever. It was so much fun...for the most part. I am thinking that we should have left McKenna with a sitter, though. There is a reason we hadn't taken the boys before. It is because they were too little. Just as McKenna is "too little" to bowl. All joking aside, I think it was a great experience for everyone. They got to see what bowling really was. Seeing it on the Wii Sports game just isn't the same. Although, I think everyone else in the tristate area had the same idea today since it rained like 14 hours in a row. So, we had to wait a half hour before getting our lane. It was so worth it, though. At least I think so. But, I am speaking for myself. Not sure Aaron enjoyed himself like the rest of us. Between the crowdedness of the place and McKenna's constant running around, he was sweating bullets. I think I will definitely plan a trip for me and the boys to go again soon.

My Three Delightfuls

The kids and I have been working on school and reading comprehension over the last few weeks. Well, everyone except McKenna who pretty much runs around and throws things off the "school table". Good times. But, the best time was had after reading a story about Jesus and the 12 disciples. After reading the story, I asked Trevor what it was about, who Jesus was, what was Jesus trying to teach the people and I asked him who were Jesus' friends that went around with Him to spread the word. Trevor informed me that it was Jesus and the delightfuls. I've decided that if I ever sing in a band, that would be a good name for it. Too funny.

And the picture of McKenna was taken at the park a few weeks ago. This one was for Mom and Aunt Joyce since they made this outfit for her. Go Bearcats.

Sorry

I'm not sure if you all missed me or not, but for those of you who actually look at this blog, I'm sorry I haven't posted in quite a while. Between Aaron's work schedule and the hectic summer schedule with the kids, I have found myself with zero energy at the end of the day. I hope to have more to say in the days to come. I have been enjoying the summer with the kids. We have been relaxing, playing, exploring, and learning with a side of complaining and whining. We are so very blessed. I cannot imagine having to work during these precious times with the kids. Of course, I say this today, but ask me tomorrow around 6:30-7:00 at night and that might be a whole other story.

I love this picture of Caleb. It was taken several months ago. I have been spending so much time with the kids doing things that are too much fun, that I haven't picked up my camera in over a week. We have been doing school every evening (which they all LOVE, by the way), and have either been somewhere where I don't feel like lugging my camera around, or I have been having so much fun that I forget to stop and take pictures. So, again, I'm sorry.

Schools in for Summer

We've had such a great time the last few days playing school and having extra special reading time (aside from the normal 5-6 books a day). The kids are working so hard, and loving it too. Trevor has been practicing writing letters and words. Caleb is learning about same, difference, matching, dot-to-dot, and McKenna is working on colors and shapes. I don't have any new pictures of school time, but they may be to come. Although, maybe not. It is quite the challenge to be the teacher of toddlers and preschoolers working on different ability levels. I feel like a rat in a maze going from kid to kid to help them learn. I am loving every minute. They are all so bright in their own ways and I love to watch them develop. I am proud of each of them as they are truly working hard. They are all loving our special school, reading and activity time. Surprisingly, they have been able to stay on task for up to an hour and a half.

Happy Belated 4th of July

The kids and I had a blast (get it... blast) over the holiday weekend, even though Aaron wasn't around too much to join in the festivities. We went to the library and checked out books on Independence Day (not sure they really got it, but what the heck, right?), we wrote read em' freedom poems, we made red, white and blue parfaits out of jello, vanilla pudding, strawberries and blueberries, and did sparklers, poppers and smoke bombs. It continues to be such a wonderful blessing to be able to create these memories with my children. I can only hope they look back and remember these times as fondly as I do. What a lucky woman I am...
